The Show Must Go On, and On, and...

It seems that Saturday nights have become my prime time to post, and One Stop Poetry's Sunday Photo Challenge my own one stop of the week. School, you know? This is my one little break. Home again on a Saturday night, and fine, just fine with that.

This Week's Photo

And Here, This Is Not My Voice.

The actors have all grown up
Some of them have died
She was once my rival for the stage
But now she is my loving wife
She says, "No one ever really dies,
They just change their name."
She means that I should not be sad
But what worries me is this:
What if that is true?
Then there is no end
The game is never over
It just goes on forever
I'm tired of this same old show
I want to see a new one

And the Audio, In Which I Play Someone Else.

You took the stage, developed a complex relationship, and then questioned the nature of existence based on the lines of an actor/wife. Amazing challenge response, Rick

i love this, especially ~

"I'm tired of this same old show
I want to see a new one"

and your audio post added another layer entirely. Love it!

I loved hearing you recite the poem, made it come to life.

I like the poem and what it is telling I actually like the fact i didn't have to search through the forest to understand what it is your sharing to the reader ~ like a cryptic cross word puzzle trying to understand sometimes what the poem is about gets a bit yawn tiresome...
I like this different slant you have given in the leaving ~ in life ...to dying or passing on .from the stage of life to that of actor husband /wife and life clever .. thankq b:)

Your metaphors capture the actors and the life well. Sometimes (when we say as we often do--just another day in paradise) we mean, when does it change, where does it go, what's beyond and then one day it does and we do. Well done.

Really complex poem compressed into such a short space--the intriguing relationship, the question of existence/after-life, the metaphor of the "show" of life, and finally desire/longing. You did a great job with this prompt!

The game does go on and on, but only we can choose to see another show :) Great take and I loved the reading!

Great capture of the image. The show has had its run...bring on some dancing girls or grumpy old men or something...Nice dialouge insert. It really beefed up an already meaty poem.

It is the sadness at the end that pulled me in.

Last Sunday, I spent almost the whole day visiting blogs and commenting on the many great poems I read. Today, I promised myself I would finish my homework before I did that because I cannot afford to show up in class without my work done—which was what happened.

So today, I will be be blogging again, but not until later.

In the mean time, thank you all very much for your comments. It is really a pleasure to wake up in the morning and see this. I am honored.
